Netflix lets users stream movies from various production firms in addition to its own original material. Given superhero movies’ prevalence, Netflix doesn’t shy away from this genre. Further, it includes several superhero films in its collection, whether they come from canonical universes, serve as stand-alone films, or are a component of another series.
Whatever the case, Netflix offers a wide selection of action and superhero films. The excellent thing is that some of the superhero movies now accessible on Netflix stand out from the rest, making it occasionally tough to choose what to watch next. The best superhero films of all time have been ranked.
Some of them are mentioned below, so keep reading to get the 30 best superhero movies on Netflix (movie recommendations from every genre type).
Warning: There can be spoilers mentioned.
30 Best Superhero Movies on Netflix:
30. Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
- Director: Guillermo del Toro
- Writer: Mike Mignola
- Cast: Selma Blair, Doug Jones, and Jeffrey Tambor
- IMDb Ratings: 7
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100%
- Genre: Fantasy/Action
About Hellboy 2: The Golden Army:
Guillermo Del Toro, who directed The Golden Army, set his foot in the superhero genre with Blade II. He followed that with Hellboy, and you see him leverage his previous experiences from that point onwards. Unlike most superhero movies, this greatest superhero movie on Netflix isn’t just a copy of the first film.
Even so, Del Toro has perfectly executed this sequel with a complex plot. To assist his reign over the world, the villainous Prince Nuada is determined to revive the Golden Army. Together, Hellboy and his team take down the ruthless tyrant.
29. Batman Begins

- Director: Christopher Nolan
- Writer: David S. Goyer
- Cast: Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe
- IMDb Ratings: 8.2
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84%
- Genre: Fantasy/Action
About Batman Begins:
Between the Batman films directed by Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan, the Caped Crusader had a few, shall we say, uneven adventures. It was difficult to bear the prospect of another superhero film like Batman & Robin, which is probably why Batman Begins was such a sad surprise. The story of a billionaire with an altered identity was given some gravitas by Nolan.
He approached the books without intending to make another silly show. First superhero film to be this depressing, with Bruce Wayne playing a sad, tragic protector who is yearning to make a difference. After seeing his parents killed, Bruce develops the skill of battling against injustice. Batman must fight a shadowy group threatening Gotham when Bruce reappears as the superhero.
28. The Avengers (Assemble)

- Director: Joss Whedon
- Writer: Joss Whedon
- Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth
- IMDb Ratings: 8
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 91%
- Genre: Adventure/Action
About The Avengers:
This massive film, in addition to The Avengers, helped Marvel Studios become a legitimate powerhouse. Team-ups had been common in comic books for years before the film finally caught up in 2012. And even though no one anticipated The Avengers to succeed, Joss Whedon disproved the doubters by bringing the superheroes together in an approachable manner.
No Avenger is clumsy or superfluous to the plot, and the action scenes move quickly. The result is exhilarating as The Avengers come together to form a sleek machine poised to administer justice like no other on-screen team.
If the powerful heroes of Earth are to prevent the cunning Loki and his extraterrestrial army from conquering humanity, they must band together and learn to fight as a team. One needs to watch this superhero movie. This movie by marvel studios is wildly entertaining. And the actors gave solid performances.
27. Kick-Ass

- Director: Matthew Vaughn
- Writer: Jane Goldman, Matthew Vaughn, Mark Millar
- Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicolas Cage, Chloë Grace Moretz
- IMDb Ratings: 7.6
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 70%
- Genre: Action/Comedy
About Kick-Ass:
When it was first published, Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar’s partnership generated debate. The controversy was not just because of a lot of gore, violence, and foul language. But it was also because a 12-year-old, Chloe Moretz, was depicted dealing with them. In the film, Aaron-Taylor Johnson’s adolescent adopts the real-life superhero Kick-Ass to express his love of comic books.
To beat a wealthy adversary who consistently outclasses him, the vigilante eventually teams up with Hit-Girl (Moretz) and Big Daddy, played by Nicolas Cage. Additionally, you can tell a movie will be successful when Cage’s eccentricity is the least ridiculous thing on the screen. Dave, a comic book fan, decides to take on the persona of real-life superhero Kick-Ass.
Kick-Ass gets involved when Big Daddy and Hit-Girl attempt to overthrow mob lord Frank D’Amico’s criminal empire. This one is visually stunning and action-packed.
26. Wonder Woman

- Director: Patty Jenkins
- Writer: Zack Snyder; Allan Heinberg; Jason Fuchs
- Cast: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright
- IMDb Ratings: 7.4
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 93%
- Genre: Action/Adventure
About Wonder Woman:
Even though Wonder Woman is a well-known heroine, Patty Jenkins’ film offers a delightfully new perspective on the hero’s regal beginnings. Princess Diana’s routine life as a child on the Amazonian Island of Themyscira is disturbed when American pilot Steve Trevor crashes offshore. Diana decides to end the fighting after learning about the tragedies of the First World War and holding Zeus’s son Ares accountable.
Gal Gadot’s beloved characters of Diana and Chris Pine’s Steve have delightful chemistry in Wonder Woman, a hope-filled explosion of sheer enjoyment. Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to participate in war after hearing of warfare from a crashed aircraft. She discovers her full potential and her true calling in battle.
25. Superman 2
- Director: Richard Lester
- Writer: Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Mario Puzo
- Cast: Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder
- IMDb Ratings: 6.8
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 83%
- Genre: Action/Sci-fi
About Superman 2:
One might count on one hand the handful of superhero films that have managed to juggle many enemies (the number of failures, though, requires you to use your fingers and toes). Against all obstacles, Christopher Reeve’s Son of Krypton was pitted against various foes in Superman 2. He pulled it off with almost faultless elegance.
This makes Superman 2 a bit of a cinematic miracle, despite the well-publicized production issues.
What made the sequel successful?
Concentrating on Clark and Lois’ adorable romance gives the film a human heart. And some of the peak physical action scenes from the 20th century on top of that. You need to watch this perfectly action-packed superhero movie.
24. Code 8
- Director: Jeff Chan
- Writer: Chris Pare, Jeff Chan
- Cast: Kari Matchett, Robbie Amell, Penny Eizenga
- IMDb Ratings: 6.1
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 80%
- Genre: Sci-fi/Thriller
About Code 8:
Despite having a lower budget than some other superhero films, Code 8 is remarkable. The film depicts a grim, dark world where those with special abilities are punished and must conceal their abilities or live a life of crime to succeed.
Connor is a young man who teams up with the criminal Garrett, portrayed by Robbie Amell’s cousin Stephen Amell, who played Green Arrow in the Arrowverse. Robbie Amell is most well-known for playing another superhero, Firestorm, in the Arrowverse. The film has a lot of tension and compelling characters, so it’s hardly surprising that a sequel is planned, given how good it is.
23. Constantine

- Director: Francis Lawrence
- Writer: Kevin Brodbin
- Cast: Keanu Reeves, Tilda Swinton, Rachel Weiz
- IMDb Ratings: 7
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 46%
- Genre: Fantasy/Horror
About Constantine:
Since John Constantine isn’t your typical superhero, Constantine is a unique superhero film. John believes that because of all the evil things he has done, he will immediately enter Hell when he dies. The fact that he is also dying doesn’t help matters for him at all.
Despite this, John chooses to assist his client, whose sister is believed to have committed suicide. With its seamless integration of action, tragedy, and horror, Constantine will leave viewers guessing what will happen next.
The participation of Keanu Reeves alongside the other performers, including Rachel Weisz and Tilda Swinton, makes the film a must-see for all aficionados of this genre, even though Reeves doesn’t look like a comic book character Constantine.
22. IBoy

- Director: Adam Randall
- Writer: Joe Barton
- Cast: Bil Milner, Maisie Williams, Rory Kinnear
- IMDb Ratings: 5.9
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 69%
- Genre: Action/Sci-fi
About IBoy:
Although American superhero movies are indeed the most well-known, other nations also produce superhero movies. This British movie demonstrates it. It centers on a little child named Tom who, following an accident, learns he has exceptional abilities. In addition to using his abilities for good, Tom vows to exact revenge on those who have wronged him and the girl he likes.
Considering that it deals with the subject of exceptional powers, which is typically reserved for blockbuster blockbusters, the film comes off as surprisingly personal and grounded. It demonstrates how a tragic event may affect a person, and Tim Millner and Maisie Williams contribute to the narrative’s success with their gracious portrayals.
21. Suicide Squad

- Director: David Ayer
- Writer: David Ayer, John Ostrander
- Cast: Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie
- IMDb Ratings: 5.9
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 26%
- Genre: Action/Adventure

Intelligence agent Amanda Waller persuades the US Government to approve Task Force X, a response team of criminals and supervillains, in the wake of Superman’s death.
Through the use of nanite bombs implanted in each criminal’s neck that can be remotely detonated if they attempt to rebel or flee, the team will be utilized to address dangers posed by metahumans under Waller’s authority. If they are successful, their sentences will be abbreviated.
20. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

- Director: Joe Russo, Anthony Russo
- Writer: Christopher Markus, Joe Simon; Jack Kirby
- Cast: Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson
- IMDb Ratings: 7.8
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90%
- Genre: Action/Adventure
About Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Winter Soldier is indeed an action film that, rather than evoking the World War II expedition of the first film, helps bring the psychosis of the Reagan Era into the twenty-first century. The Russo Brothers took what could have been a dull remake of a so-so superhero movie and made something very special with it.
Even Robert Redford was cast. Cap is back and prepared to defeat the adversary now that he has caught up with the rest of the world.
But who is the adversary?
This question, which is the main one, leads to a shocking twist that forever altered the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Steve Rogers joins Natasha Romanoff and Sam Wilson in their quest to learn the truth about a deadly killer, an enigmatic threat, as he adjusts to the intricacies of a modern world.
19. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

- Director: Zack Snyder
- Writer: Chris Terrio; David S. Goyer
- Cast: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot
- IMDb Ratings: 6.4
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 29%
- Genre: Action/Adventure
About Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
After his conflict in Metropolis, millionaire Bruce Wayne feels that Superman constitutes a threat to civilization. He, therefore, chooses to assume the identity of Batman and finish him off forever. Given the movie’s name, a fight between Batman and Superman occurs near the end of the narrative.
It’s just as ruthless, and when Batman finds that his mother and Superman’s mother share the same first name, the fisticuffs come to a sudden end. Superman offers himself in the movie’s final moments to fight Doomsday, leaving Batman and Wonder Woman to establish the Justice League without him.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League was surely interesting. Since having long hair is strictly prohibited in solitary prison, Lex Luthor has gone insane and had his hair trimmed. This is one of the best superhero movies.
18. Morbius

- Director: Daniel Espinosa
- Writer: Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless
- Cast: Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona
- IMDb Ratings: 5.2
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 16%

17. The Lego Batman Movie

- Director: Chris McKay
- Writer: Seth Grahame-Smith, Chris McKenna
- Cast: Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson
- IMDb Ratings: 7.3
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90%
- Genre: Action/Adventure
About The Lego Batman Movie:
In this film, Batman collaborates with Robin, one of his protégés, and Barbara, the daughter of the police commissioner, to thwart the Joker’s attempts to take over Gotham City. Batman, who really is he? A crusader in torment? A brave hero? Wanted offender?
Perhaps he’s a wealthy jerk who’s anxious to be liked, as The Lego Batman Movie makes clear. The Lego Batman Movie is not only slapstick humor with amazing Lego visuals and tonnes of Easter eggs, but it’s also one of the best character studies of the Dark Knight ever.
Bruce Wayne’s lonely soul is wrung out by director Chris McKay, who was formerly best known for episodes of Robot Chicken, for a beautifully observant humorous impact. It’s merely a bonus that everyone is made of Danish plastic.
16. Wonder Woman 1984

- Director: Patty Jenkins

- IMDb Ratings: 7.8
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90%

About Captain America: Civil War
In essence, Captain America: Civil War is Avengers: 2. Age of Ultron, a lesser effort, laid the foundation for the schism between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, which is finally resolved in Civil War.
Who is the historical victor? The one who seeks to protect liberty and the American way? Or the charitable individual who wants a society where superheroes are held accountable?
Although Civil War has a more serious tone than previous MCU films, there are also jokes and silly scenes. The Russo Brothers accomplish a miracle by giving us all their due, presenting Black Panther to the audience, and delivering Spider-Man a fresh new aesthetic.
The Avengers clash when one faction backs the government’s decision to enforce legislation to regulate their capabilities whilst the other dislikes it. It is surely, in general, also one of the best Marvel movies. It is surely an interesting story.

- IMDb Ratings: 7.4
- Rotten Tomatoes Score: 92%
- Genre: Action/Adventure
About Spider-Man: Homecoming
Spider-Man: Homecoming provides Tom Holland’s Peter Parker with a satisfying origin tale, much like the original Spider-Man movie from 2002 did for Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker.
The audience is already well acquainted with Spider-Man’s origin story and how he acquired his powers, so this time the film skips ahead rather than beginning at the beginning. Instead, it follows Parker as he struggles to balance his everyday life with his work as a superhero, especially as the nefarious Vulture enters the picture.
The interplay between Spider-Man and his tutor Iron Man provided for some of the film’s most emotional scenes, and Tom Holland offers a superb performance as the title character. The movie also has plenty of humor.

Venom received a lot of criticism from both critics and moviegoers, but for those who give it a chance, the film has a lot to offer.
Its most compelling element is the strange bond that forms between Eddie and Venom, his new roommate, which is exacerbated by the fact that Venom is living within Eddie’s body, has a weakness for brain-eating humans, and has a love/hate relationship with Eddie.
Even while its action sequences might not always be as memorable as those in other superhero movies, Venom keeps a brisk pace and doesn’t let the audience down. The two characters have several funny moments in the film. The portrayal of Eddie by Tom Hardy in this film, Venom, is an upgrade over the original Spider-Man 3. This is one of the best superhero movies.
