We first met Wong in the 2016 MCU project Doctor Strange, where he was Master Wong guarding the Library of Kamar Taj after Kaecilius attacked it. It was just the beginning. After that, there were numerous times when Wong appeared in Marvel movies/series.
It was a roller coaster ride for him! He came to New York to aid Doctor Strange in protecting the NY Sanctum. Then he became the Sorcerer Supreme in place of Strange, even fought with the Abomination in a fighting ring, and ended up having frozen yogurt and binging on The Sopranos with his girl buddy Madisynn, the party girl (more on this later)!

We saw him in the Avengers films – Infinity War and Endgame. Then he made split appearances in Shang Chi and the legend of the ten rings as well as Spider-man no way home (before going on a vacation).
The last theater outing was the second installment of the Doctor Strange saga – Multiverse of Madness. He also cropped up in two Disney plus marvel series – the animated What If? and She-Hulk.
Why do we Envy Wong Besides his Cool Magical Arts Knowledge?
His ability to create an inter-dimensional portal with his sling ring to go to any location in a split second. Zero travel costs, guys!
Origin of Wong

British actor Benedict Wong plays the role of the former Librarian of Kamar Taj-Wong. He puts in a perfect balance of humor, seriousness, and a lot of heart for this no-nonsense character to be an adorable fan favorite. You might have caught him previously in Marco Polo (Netflix), The Martian, etc.
Few people know that the marvel comics version of Wong was nothing but an Asian stereotype. He was the tea-serving valet of Doctor Strange. While directing Doctor Strange (2016), director Derrickson decided to stray from the source material and cast Wong as a completely different character making him what we see him today.
In the MCU, Wong has been working as a sales associate at Target in Kamar Taj (as we find out in She-Hulk). He is the master of the Mystic arts and then became the Sorcerer Supreme after Strange got snapped courtesy to Thanos!

1. Doctor Strange (2016) – Librarian of Kamar Taj

This movie marked the introduction of Wong into the MCU and also, well, killed him off! After the battle at the Hong Kong sanctum, Doctor Strange thankfully revives the then-Kamar Taj librarian.
Strange impresses Wong (but not Karl Mordo!) with his antics with the Time stone to ward off Dormammu. Therefore, it results in Wong accompanying Strange to New York, where they help each other protect the New York sanctum sanctorum.
2. Avengers Infinity War (2018) – Defending Earth Alongside Iron Man and the Hulk.

Wong and Strange discuss the utility of keeping currencies when the Hulk falls through their roof with the news of Thanos and his upcoming attack. Then, Wong and Stephen Strange fight beside Iron Man and Bruce Banner (who is unable to command his Hulk form) when Thanos sends Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian to attack NY. Also, Wong gets himself an invite to Stark’s upcoming wedding!
3. Avengers Endgame (2019) – Fighting Thanos

This and the next movie have Wong’s appearances limited to minimal screen time. Wong appears in the final battle against Thanos and gives the famous dialogue, which turned into a popular meme template – “What you wanted more?” He had replied to Doctor Strange’s question when Stephen had asked if that was all, even after all their allies had arrived.
4. Spider-Man No Way Home (2021) – Taking a Vacation to Kamar Taj

Well, this one has nothing except showing Wong’s good sense! The moment Doctor Strange decided to comply with the wishes of Spider-Man to cast a spell that would make everyone (barring a few) forget that Peter Parker is Spiderman, Wong packed his bags and left for a vacation to Kamar Taj.
Oh, did we mention that Wong is the Sorcerer Supreme now because Doctor Strange has been blipped out of existence for five years?
5. What If? (2021) – Variants of Wong

This tv series of Marvel was released on Disney plus and was one of the more ambitious MCU projects. However, this animated show about our beloved heroes and villains in alternative timelines and multiverses proved to be a hit. Out of the nine episodes, Wong’s variants appeared in two episodes.
Episode four sees Stephen Strange dealing with the loss of Christine Palmer after the accident instead the loss of his hands. He attains the mystic arts and uses magic to go back in time. But every scenario results in Palmer’s death, showing that you cannot outrun fate, with or without magic!
In the fifth episode, What If…zombies, Iron Man, Strange, and Wong try to ward off the zombie attack and try to get a cure. Both episodes have Benedict Wong voicing his character.
6. Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
This episode of #SheHulk proves yet again why Wong is the goat! He deserves a spinoff! #Wongers pic.twitter.com/YEWnjYtUDe

Wong made an appearance in this movie, expectedly, since it is the first Marvel movie focusing on Asian superheroes. In a fighting tournament, we see him fighting Emil Blonsky in his Abomination form (from the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk). Later we find out (in She-Hulk) that it was after he illegally broke out the Abomination from his cell!
In the ending scenes of the movie, Wong returns to call Shang Chi and Katy for their next adventure, setting up a Shang Chi sequel. Fingers crossed!
7. Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness (2022) – Helping America Chavez

This movie finds Wong and Strange in the Multiverse trying to save a teen America Chavez belonging to some other Universe, from a rogue Wanda. She wants to use the girl’s powers to get her kids from another dimension. A fight ensues (obviously!), and Wong assists Stephen while almost dying himself in a scene.
Did you know director Sam Raimi had even considered giving the character a gruesome death to play on the audience’s emotions? Also, the actor Benedict Wong was initially told that Wong dies in the (literal) cliffhanger scene!
8. She-Hulk (2022) – Suing magicians.

Another Disney Plus series taking place in the MCU has the cousin of Bruce Banner taking up the mantle of (She) Hulk. She is an efficient lawyer and is seen defending Emil Blonsky in court. This leads to Wong’s appearance in two episodes where he assists our titular lawyer Jen Walters in establishing her case.
He does it by giving a positive character witness for Emil Blonsky. Wong also enlists Jennifer’s help in suing a bad magician who was using his sparse knowledge of the mystic arts for cheap tricks! And that is how he met Madisynn.
And we got our latest favorite MCU buddy pairings after the Science bros (Tonya and Bruce), Natasha and Hawkeye, Yelena and Kate (Hawkeye series), etc.
Look what Twitter has to say:

Well, that is all of his appearances for now! Remember Phil Coulson? Yeah, just like him, expect Wong to turn up in most of MCU Phase 4 projects. And we are not complaining!
