The Office is an American television sitcom that is currently streaming on both Netflix and Amazon Prime. It depicts the routine life of office workers having ego clashes and not-so-good behavior. The way the episodes have been scripted makes the viewers chuckle, and the audience binge-watch the mockumentary. In this article, we will list The Office characters and the craziness they brought to the set.

Who are the writer and the producer of The Office?
The Office was written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant in 2001- 2003 and was developed by Greg Daniels. It has spanned nine seasons from March 2005 to May 2013.
The List of The Office Characters
Let us list the characters and the craziest things they have done on screen during their nine seasons.
1. Michael Scott

Michael Scott, the character played by Steve Carell, apart from being one of the most disputable characters in the show, was also the kind of person no one would ever wish to meet. He was unsettled.
Even though Michael Scott considered the office to be his certain family but used to mock people around him, made inappropriate statements about them, and did all that an employee should not.

One of the craziest and worst things he did was that he promised a bunch of students that he would pay for their university education if they successfully finished high school. Still, Michael Scott being Scott Totts did not do so and kept the students in disbelief that he had their fees paid.
It was only when they were about to graduate that they got to know the reality. Michael Scott, on the other hand, just showed a little piece of concern he had over books for the students.
He was the funniest man in Dunder Mifflin and used to depict his humor even if it meant putting the employees’ respect at stake. His banters with Jan and Toby and many “That’s what she said” moments made him a mensch and made the audience laugh uncontrollably.
In the third season, ‘ Gay witch hunt ‘, Oscar Martinez is outed after Scott used homophobic language toward him. Scott spent the entire episode trying to let Oscar Martinez know that he was absolutely okay with his sexual preference, but things happened exactly the way they should NOT have. He made the situation much worse.
2. David Wallace
The audience liked David Wallace on their first watch of the show, but on the second watch, they genuinely admired his character. He tolerated every ounce of insane, weird, and fidgety nonsense from the other characters (from Michael Scott to Dwight Schrute to Andy Bernard and beyond). There are some scenes where he proves to be an absolute crazy creature.
Once, Dwight jr started a fire in the Office to teach his co-workers about safety methods; Dwight Schrute was taken into the corporate headquarters to be chewed out by David Wallace. Michael Scott said, “Dwight, we are not mad; we are just disappointed“, but David countered, “No, we are just mad.”
When Michael Scott, Dwight, Jim Halpert, Karen, and Jan all head up to David’s house for a cocktail party, Michael accidentally lets it slip that he and Jan are dating. David proved that no matter what people believe about your dreams, you can still achieve them. For example, no one really liked the “suck it” idea, Michael did not want to be part of it, and the cameras cut away every time David talked about it.

3. Angela Martin
She was one of the most troublesome people/characters. She was being mean, judgmental, and whatnot. The worst thing she did was cheat on Andy with Dwight. She very certainly did not want to be with Andy.
Angela never treated him well and was just using Dwight all this time, as she had already made it clear that she had no intent to have anything serious with him.
There were some moments where she proved herself to be “savage”-
When she tried to save Bandit, when she talked about her favorite store, her sound logic, when she disregarded her son and her habit of asking questions that literally no one else had.
4. Jim Halpert

Jim Halpert, the character is played by John Krasinski. He and Pam Beesly seemed to have a ‘perfect’ relationship, but the sitcom’s final season revealed that it is not that simple and easy. Jim kept things from Pam that might have affected her as much as they would have affected Jim.
He might not have been truthful as his motive was to manage things independently, but that is not how a marriage works. Everything should be transparent between the two, and not including her in the plans, lying to her was unfair.
People Hating Jim’s Character
I am 100% anti-Jim. He’s a sociopathic office bully who should have been fired on day one. Adds nothing to the company, ruined a relationship, and gaslit the top salesman for years. The worst part is you’re supposed to identify with him. My least favorite character of all time. https://t.co/iByd4ROpon

He proved to be a jerk when he accidentally told everyone that Pam was pregnant, whereas Pam wanted to keep it a secret at the wedding so that no problem would arise. If everyone had known, Michael Scott would have slipped at the wedding, but Jim accidentally told everyone instead.
Darryl and Halpert were roommates for a while, as both of them were working at Athlead. Jim was a complete slob who did not clean up after himself, which made us wonder if he was this way with Pam.
Jim used Karen and their relationship as a ‘rebound’ to show how much he still loved Pam. Karen was a character who deserved a lot better. The two of them were actually getting along, but Jim being Jim broke up with her only so that he could ask his love Pam on a date.
people hated her because she wasn’t pam but then, they go around saying karen was better than pam and they are forgetting: jim kinda played both of them. he used karen to forget pam. he played pam using karen to make her jealous.
but we don’t talk about that bc he’s a man https://t.co/gABS8NF6EY

Jim did not really consider Pam’s opinion when he bought his parent’s house without telling her. Even though it might look romantic to some but on the whole, it was pretty problematic.
5. Pam Beesley
Pam lacked self-confidence and did not treat herself the right way. This even led to many problematic scenes in her life, and she almost lost Jim Halpert.
She did not know how to spell her name was something crazy. Earlier, she claimed she used to fake sick to get out of volleyball; however, later, she was an accomplished player while expecting her first child.
Pam Beesly could not help during the beach day, but her feelings came out, leading to a wedge between Jim Halpert and Karen. It might be similar to what Jim did to her in season two. The only major difference is that Pam was not happy with Roy. On the other hand, Jim seemed content with Karen.
Pam even tried to prove that Jim found Cathy attractive, so she went to great lengths. It was insane on her part to be this way when her husband even went to great lengths to prove that Pam Beesly was her one and only.
There was a scene where Pam Beesly quit a job and joined Michael Scott Paper Company, and she stayed in sales when she rejoined at Dunder Mifflin Paper. Then, she lost several clients and considered it bad luck instead of just accepting it as her mistake.
She loved the house that Jim Halpert had bought until she hated it. Although Jim might not have told her or might not have considered her opinion, it was only to make her happy, which eventually happened. Still, when the couple’s equation turned worse during the last season, she expressed that she resented the house.
6. Meredith Palmer

There are a lot of hints and scenes in the sitcom which show she was a maniac. She made it very obvious at the Scranton branch for people to sleep with her. Meredith even dated Creed. She had done some inappropriate actions in the office and apparently did not get fired.

When Dwight trapped her with a bat, due to which she got rabies, and Michael hit her with the car, she could have reported them and gotten justice, but she being she, just like the rest of the characters in the show, did not do so.
She did pretty much nothing on duty and always spent all her time playing Solitaire at Dunder Mifflin. No one even kept an eye on Meredith being productive, and yes, she was not productive at all.
The employees in the office were financially stable. However, Meredith was shown to be thrown under the bus when it came to receiving a GOOD salary.
7. Stanley Hudson

A lot of us could relate to Leslie David Baker’s character Stanley Hudson over various things. He used to take a nap- legit between office hours. While the other Office characters had their priorities set regarding what they would do after office hours, all that mattered to him was going home! He even did pushups once so that he could go home early.

Scott asked him if he was learning anything from the meeting, during the meeting. But he learned nothing and was playing crossword puzzles. Stanley thought Michael was an idiot and could not stand him. He basically hated his boss, which most people do but do not say out loud.
However, if someone would lure him with food, he would not mind being sweet. He probably loved sweets as much as he loved making money.
8. Andy Bernard

He might have started as a really clueless and annoying employee from Stamford Branch. Still, later, he developed into one of the worst (pretty sure you were expecting a change in a performance review) characters on the show.
He was a maniac when he skipped his job as the office manager and his relationship with Erin Hannon so that he could sail around the world with his brother. Apart from treating Erin Hannon badly during this time, he even lied when he returned to the office and tried to make David think that he had been in Scranton Branch all this time.
Andy Bernard could not stop talking about his social status and considered himself really cool, “no one cares about your college acapella group, Andrew “.
Some of his craziest dialogues were;
“I am a great interviewee. Why? Because I have something no one else has, my brain, which I use to my advantage when advantageous.”
” I’ll be the number 2 guy here in the Scranton branch in six weeks. How? Name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake. I am always thinking one step ahead, like a carpenter that makes stairs.”
” I am petrified of nipple chafing. Once it starts, is a vicious circle.”
9. Dwight Schrute

Dwight Schrute is one of the most troublesome characters. He often held prejudiced opinions and had no hesitation about speaking them out loud. He was cruel to people and showed no regard for them.

Dwight Schrute even got into an affair with Angela Kinsey while she was dating Andy Bernard. He even killed Angela Kinsey’s cat and further lied to her about it. It was only after Angela found the bags torn to shreds that he confessed the cat was alive until he had put her in the freezer.
Dwight being a farmer, might not care much about the lives of the animals as it was his everyday job to kill animals, but Angela was devastated, which made complete sense. During season 6, Jim Halpert was promoted as co-manager and started running the branch; Dwight Schrute did not like it for obvious reasons, as he had dreamt of being the manager. Therefore, he typed a “diabolical plan” and tried to get Jim fired.
When Dwight and Angela were getting married for the second time, Angela had gone to Schrute Farms to plan everything about the wedding with Andy Bernard. Dwight being a jerk, conned her into marrying him in a German language function.
After the Office had ignored Dwight’s PowerPoint presentation about fire safety, a series of events happened. All the employees in the office freaked out when Oscar Martinez climbed into the ceiling, and Scott broke a window in the conference room. Dwight explained it to be just an ‘elaborate test’; Stanley Hudson had a heart attack and even passed out on the floor.
When Dwight had become the regional manager of the Scranton branch, he ‘accidentally’ fired a gun in the office. Fortunately, he did not hit anybody, but the sound of the shot gave Andy Bernard a minor ear injury.
10. Creed Bratton
Creed Bratton was often seen as a background character in all nine seasons of the show, but there were certain nods throughout the show to him being a criminal. He came to the office on Halloween covered in blood, whereas everyone assumed it to be fake, considering it was a holiday.
It might not have been confirmed within the show if it was real or not, but it did seem pretty clear that Creed had most likely killed someone and ended someone’s life. Throughout the nine seasons, Creed Bratton is guilty of many things, like doing and selling drugs, fraud, theft, murder, and embezzlement.
There was a dinner party mystery game where people assumed a pun-intended identity and tried to figure out who the murderer was. Apparently, only Creed Bratton was not there from the start, and when he showed up, he ran to Michael and told him that there was a murder and he was a suspect. He told Michael that he was going to settle it in and then would come back.
When Holly Flax had asked Creed about his position at work, he hid behind the refrigerator and tried to sound it out. He knew it started with Qua and ended with ‘Quality Assurance, although he did not have it yet. It was the ‘Quality Assurance’ Creed, don’t worry.
He even ran a fake I.D business during the episode Cocktails. Oscar Nunez noticed high school students entering the bar and greeted Creed, who warmly responded to them back. He admitted to swiping the laminating machine from the Sheriffs. The funniest part is that Oscar Nunez ignored it and continued drinking.
11. Kelly Kapoor
The fact that Kelly Kapoor dated Ryan Howard for so long made absolutely no sense. Ryan, apart from being a horrible person, was also the worst boyfriend. It was insane how Kelly did not choose to come out of it.
In the last season- Episode nine of the show, Ryan was seen manipulating her into leaving her less toxic boyfriend and running away with him. And surprisingly, Kelly Kapoor agreed to it and LEFT HER CHILD that she had with her ex.
When Ryan Howard broke up with her, she did not want to go into that feeling-low kind of phase and hence got into a relationship with Darryl, which was one of the most painful bonds on the show. She cared about nothing but making it look perfect in front of Ryan.

The incident regarding the New Year resolution proved her to be borderline psychotic and narcissistic.
12. Ryan Howard
He was the most obnoxious Office character with an arrogance level of 11 on 10 when he got the job. Ryan was not even qualified enough to get the job but made himself look like a prodigy when he got the corporate job.
This entire video depicts how Ryan and Kelly Kapoor were as crazy as one could imagine. Ryan Howard hooked up with Kelly Kapoor, wherein he just wanted things for fun, but Kelly, on the other hand, wanted it to be serious.
13. Kevin Malone
We all know how much Kevin Malone loved food but what drew everyone’s attention was how much he loved sweets on his last day in Florida. Kevin made Darryl and Toby Flenderson go through so much just so that they could prove their dedication to him.

In one of the episodes, he started skipping words, and it made no sense to “not to waste time” Instead, he was wasting more time here. When Holly Flax took her gloves off so that she could flaunt her ring and the ring finger, he mistook Holly’s ring finger as the “middle finger”. Well, the joke is on him.
14. Oscar
Oscar commented about Michael having a ‘second job’.

He asked Andy Bernard about his and Angela Kinsey’s relationship. He gave a savage comeback to Meredith’s attempt to criticize his sandals.
15. Phyllis Smith
This video basically depicts how people questioned, “what’s up with Phyllis?”
There was a time she was a little too obsessed with 50 shades of grey, and the way employees reacted to the character’s obsession, was crazy.
16. Gabe Lewis

Gabe Lewis had a crush on Erin Hannon and tried to take his shot when he broke up with Andy. Although he did not want to be cringe and creepy, his love for her made him creepy.
There was this episode when Gabe was dressed up as Lady Gaga on Halloween, but one could not tell that from his poker face. Todd Packer might have assaulted him, but he managed to show the Lady Gaga moves. Gabe spiked his drink with an asthma inhaler to take revenge for what all Todd did.

Even though he joined the show late but he did manage to make people laugh even as a supporting character.
17. Jan

The dinner party was such bizarre. Jan and Michael had thrown this party for their friends, and the scars of this relationship were becoming obvious as the party went on.
She was legit so frustrated with him that she could not ignore him. Jan always thought very highly of herself but was only vain. She took up singing a ton when Astrid was born and made it look like she was singing for the baby while she was just showing off in front of the people around her.
18. Erin Hannon

Erin Hannon did not have a grand entrance initially in the show. But it took only a while for her to turn the tables and apparently became all that the show was about. Her messy break-ups were also a part of the process.
Once when Dwight, Esther, and Angela’s drama took the stage, Nellie struggled with the competition, and Erin almost lost her mind over not winning the competition. When the entire office was trying to stay silent as long as they could, she stood up from behind with a bleeding gash across her hand and asked for a first aid kit. The reason for it still remains uncertain.

Only a few shows are as funny as “The Office”. It has only gotten better with new seasons. The show might have ended years back, but the insane plot, crazy characters, and everything, in general, has made the audience cling to the sitcom.
We find it extremely difficult to choose one of The Office characters as our favorite as almost all of them have made us laugh in their own unique and amusing ways.
