Based on the films Goodfellas, Money People, and Hotshots, a career in finance appears to be lucrative. However, it is a gritty and laborious field that can be extremely rewarding or harsh. There is nothing to stop one wrong step from undoing a lifetime’s financial growth for a company, even with a lot of hard and smart work. Making money by the truckload is never easy, but that’s what matters in the end, and so the movies tell us.

We doubt you have the time to read volumes of college literature. The following list includes the best finance movies that teach important financial lessons and entertain you simultaneously.

As a reflection of the concerns of the time, Edison The Man was made just nine years after Edison died. It’s a glitzy MGM production that’s part history, part fiction.

2. Boiler Room

Boiler Room
Source: IMDb
  • Directed By: Ben Younger
  • Cast: Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel, Nia Long
  • IMDB Rating: 7.0/10
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 66%
  • Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

Boiler Room Plot:

In this film, which stars an outstanding cast from 2000, we see the dark side of Wall Street and stock market trading. 19-year-old Seth Davis, a college dropout, turns his apartment into an illegal casino.

Boiler Room Review:

Boiler Room moves at a breakneck pace, and the acting is as tight as a drum. Fly-by-night brokerages employ aggressive and naive young stock jocks to hawk financial products to naive consumers. They receive houses, Ferraris, and more luxury items than they can handle. In this modest Long Island neighborhood, Gen Xers race to the green, often one step ahead of the law.

People who listened to Lou are deLOUsional. I've said this before and I'll say it again: watch the movie Boiler Room before you listen to Lou and his friend's next spaces call and you'll finally understand. pic.twitter.com/RF1hXK5jmP

This film brings up Bernie Madoff’s epic financial swindle once more. Robert De Niro stars as the field’s most dazzling major conman in this Oscar-winning film directed by Barry Levinson.

This is no ordinary Western bank robbery film! This financial movie on Netflix rings true, blending a generous cast of people beautifully penned and played to depict the narrative of survival in and around the bleak and arid West Texas countryside and its typical tiny towns.

Though Toni believes that “Walter is kept together by meetings,” this Financial movie on Netflix demonstrates differently by presenting the film’s most astute point: not gambling on gambling is still gambling.

The Big Short Review:

In The Big Short, Christian Bale portrays the astute investor Michael Burry. In terms of finance and business, the latter is very knowledgeable. He predicted the impending financial crisis and bets against the system. People label him insane, but many only wake up when the big bubble bursts.

Conclusion

These best movies are essential viewing for any aspiring financial professional. Even if you aren’t considering a career in finance, the true story can provide insight into the wild global economy and sometimes absurd world of the financial system.

Real life and art continue to be inspired by one another.
